ONCE A CATHOLIC

by Mary O'Malley

directed by Jerry Park

12 - 19 July (excluding Sunday) 7.45pm
The Players’ Theatre, Pillory Street, Nantwich.

Tickets (£6) from Nantwich Tourist Office (01270 537359)
from 23 June

In the late 1950s, Mother Peter's 0-level class at Our Lady of Fatima Convent School learn about the GCE syllabus, the Catholic Church,  and boys… not necessarily in that order….

Mary O'Malley's irreverent look at English Catholicism in the years before the second Vatican Council is a comedy classic. It enjoyed a long London run when it first opened.

This will be the final play in our 2007/08 Season. We look forward to seeing you there.

BOOKING AND TICKET INFORMATION

Tickets are sold at Nantwich Tourist Information Centre (TIC).
Call in person or ring 01270 537359 from the 23 June.

Telephone bookings must be paid for by credit/debit card. You will be asked for the card number at the time of booking. The tickets can be collected from the tourist information centre - or will be available at the theatre on the evening of the performance. Tickets paid for using a card are immediately the property of the card holder - there is no dashing to the theatre before a set time to avoid them being resold.

If a member of your party cannot be present after all, we will try to re-sell their ticket, but our own unsold tickets - if any - take priority. We often have members of the public waiting in the foyer on the chance of returned tickets when all our tickets have been sold. Mention any spare tickets to our people behind the coffee bar (which acts as a box office before the show) when you arrive at the theatre.

Theatre facilities include a hearing loop system and space for two wheechairs (see below).

Please note that each wheelchair space occupies most of two seats on the front row (but you pay only the price of one seat).

You must mention the wheelchair use when booking your tickets as the second seat alongside the wheelchair cannot be occupied.

Nantwich Players' Theatre has an intimate auditorium with 82 seats which means no member of the audience is too far from the stage. But book early to avoid disappointment!

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • A no smoking  rule applies to the whole of the theatre - including the foyer bar.

  • Latecomers: Because of the design of the theatre it is not possible to admit late arrivals until a suitable break in the action. With some plays this may not be until the interval! As parties from Nantwich Players visit other theatres in the county and beyond we do understand the difficulty of getting to a theatre on time after a long journey - especially if it is a first visit to the theatre. While we can allow a couple of  minutes if a party is on its way, it can be no more than that for the benefit of members of the audience already in their seats.

  • The foyer bar is open before and after the performance (a chance to meet the cast) as well as during the interval. Drinks must be consumed in the bar area only. They cannot be taken into the auditorium. Order your drinks before the start of the performance and they will be waiting for you at the interval - placed on a bar shelf with a easily-seen exclusive ticket number to catch your eye. There is then no need to queue during the 20-minute break.

  • The coffee bar serves coffee at the interval only for patrons who would rather not have an alcoholic or soft drink. We don't take orders for coffee.

  • Food and drink are not allowed in the auditorium. Sweets in wrappers, which could cause a nuisance to fellow theatre-goers and the cast are also not allowed - but we do have a range of "silent" confectionery on sale at the foyer bar.

  • The theatre has a unisex toilet for the disabled.

  • Car parking is easy! The Players' Theatre stands on the edge of the Waterlode/Love Lane public car park (no charge after 6pm).  However, this may fill quickly on some evenings as patrons of other nearby venues make use of it. But there are other car parks close by.

  • Photography, videography and sound recordings are not permitted in the auditorium, mainly for copyright reasons, but also to avoid disturbing the cast and your fellow theatregoers.

  • Mobile phones, pagers and watches must be turned off during the performance.

  • Programmes (30p) are on sale at each production, but where a show has been sponsored, programmes are free of charge - and some contain an offer coupon from the sponsor. Arrangements may be different for an external hire production.
